Are you Planning a dream trip to Seoul? As an expat student here for three years, let me give you the inside scoop on the best luxury hotels. A great stay makes all the difference!
Here’s my quick guide to the top spots:
#1. Grand Hyatt Seoul Hotel
This is a true Seoul icon. Perched on the slopes of Namsan Mountain, the Grand Hyatt has a timeless, grand feel. It’s famous for its sprawling grounds, which make it feel like a resort.
Its location on Namsan Mountain means the views are unbeatable, but it’s a bit of a walk or a short taxi ride to the nearest subway station (Itaewon). It’s perfect if you want a slightly more secluded, resort-like feel while still being central.
#2. Sofitel Ambassador Seoul Hotel & Serviced Residences
This hotel beautifully blends Parisian elegance with modern Korean style. Located right next to the Lotte World Tower, it feels chic, modern, and very sophisticated.
Situated in Jamsil, it’s perfect for visitors interested in Lotte World, Lotte World Tower, and the surrounding upscale neighborhood. It has direct access to Jamsil subway station.
#3. Hotel Naru Seoul MGallery Ambassador
One of the newer luxury hotels, this spot in the vibrant Mapo district has a more boutique, artistic feel. It’s known for its stunning design and focus on well-being.
Located in Mapo, it’s slightly away from the main tourist hubs but very well-connected by subway. It’s a great choice if you want to explore areas like Hongdae and enjoy a more local vibe with incredible river views.
#4. The Westin Josun Seoul
This is one of Seoul’s original luxury hotels, steeped in history but beautifully renovated with modern comforts. It’s a member of the Marriott Bonvoy group.
The location is absolutely perfect for first-time visitors. It’s a short walk from Myeongdong, City Hall, and several palaces, with Euljiro-1-ga station nearby, putting you right in the heart of the action.
#5. Lotte Hotel Seoul
This is a massive, iconic luxury complex in the heart of the city. It’s composed of a Main Tower and a more modern Executive Tower, offering different styles of rooms.
Its location in Myeongdong is unbeatable for shopping and dining. You can walk to most of downtown Seoul’s major attractions.
#6. The Shilla Seoul
The Shilla is the epitome of classic, sophisticated Korean luxury and has hosted countless state leaders and celebrities. It feels exclusive and serene.
Set in its own private park-like grounds, it feels like an escape. It’s a short distance from the Dongguk University subway station, and the hotel offers frequent shuttle services.
#7. Signiel Seoul
Occupying floors 76-101 of the Lotte World Tower (the tallest building in South Korea), Signiel offers an unparalleled “top of the world” experience.
Located in Jamsil within the Lotte World Tower complex, you have shopping, an aquarium, a cinema, and a concert hall right at your doorstep.
#8. InterContinental Grand Seoul Parnas, an IHG hotel
A powerhouse of modern luxury in Gangnam, this hotel is directly connected to the COEX Convention Center and the massive Starfield COEX Mall.

In Yeouido, Seoul’s financial district, it’s perfect for business travelers but also great for leisure, with the beautiful Yeouido Park nearby.

A globally recognized name that delivers flawless luxury. Located in Gwanghwamun, the historical heart of Seoul, it’s both grand and contemporary.
The location is ideal for sightseeing, with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village just a short walk away.
#19. THE PLAZA Seoul, Autograph Collection
A boutique-style luxury hotel with a unique and stylish design by Italian architect Guido Ciompi. It overlooks Seoul Plaza and the beautiful Deoksugung Palace.
Its central location is superb for exploring historical sites, Myeongdong, and Namdaemun Market, all of which are within easy walking distance.
#20. Vista Walkerhill Seoul
The trendier, more modern sister hotel to the Grand Walkerhill. It has a futuristic and tech-forward design, with a focus on providing a rejuvenating experience.
Like the Grand Walkerhill, it’s located a bit outside the city center, offering a tranquil, riverside retreat from the urban hustle.
A Friendly Note Before You Book
Before you book, pull up a map and see how close your hotel is to a subway station. Being on a major line will save you so much time and energy.
All these hotels offer private limo services, which are lovely. But I have to tell you, the Airport Limousine Bus is a fantastic, clean, and comfortable option that drops you right at or very near most of these major hotels for a fraction of the cost. It’s my go-to recommendation for visiting friends and family.
No matter which of these incredible hotels you choose, you’re setting yourself up for an amazing trip. Seoul is a city that has something for everyone, and having a luxurious, comfortable base to return to each night makes the experience all the more special.
