Korean egg food

Are you looking for egg menu? this is the right place to know

It’s Gazi here. Today I will be exploring to eggs menu. You will love it and should not miss it if you’re in Korea.

Korean foods are unbelievable. I have fallen in love with Korea food. However, Korean cuisine features eggs in a variety of delicious and creative ways, often incorporating them as a key ingredient or garnish.

The first Korea food egg I will talk to is Gyeranjjim. It’s the most favorite item in terms of the eggs menu.

Gyeran Jjim is a savory steamed egg dish, often described as a Korean-style egg custard. It’s light, fluffy, and slightly spongy, usually made by whisking eggs with water or broth and then steaming them. The dish is typically seasoned with salt and sesame oil and may include ingredients like scallions, onions, mushrooms, or seafood. It’s commonly served as a side dish (banchan) in Korean meals

Gyeranbap (계란밥)

The second best I have is Gyeranbap. It’s very difficult to make a list you know. All of them are best when it comes to talking about Korean cuisine.

Gyeranbap is a simple, comforting dish that involves serving a fried or poached egg over a bowl of hot rice. It’s typically drizzled with soy sauce and sesame oil, and garnished with a sprinkle of sesame seeds or chopped green onions. Some variations may include adding kimchi, seaweed, or other toppings.

Gyeran Mari (계란말이) - Rolled Omelette

Gyeran Mari is a rolled omelet, similar in concept to a Japanese Tamagoyaki. It’s made by cooking a thin layer of beaten eggs in a pan and rolling it up with various fillings like chopped vegetables, ham, cheese, or even seaweed. The rolled omelet is then sliced into bite-sized pieces, making it a popular item in lunch boxes and as a side dish.

Mayak Gyeran (마약계란) - Marinated Eggs

Literally translating to “drug eggs” due to their addictive taste, Mayak Gyeran are soft-boiled eggs that are marinated in a mixture of soy sauce, sugar, garlic, and other seasonings. The eggs are left to soak in the marinade for several hours or overnight, allowing them to absorb the flavors. They are often served with rice or as a snack.

Ttukbaegi Gyeran (뚝배기계란찜) - Hot Pot Steamed Egg

Ttukbaegi Gyeran is steamed egg served in a clay pot called ttukbaegi. The dish is often served bubbling hot and is slightly more dense and firm compared to the regular Gyeran Jjim. It’s a popular side dish in Korean BBQ restaurants.

Bibimbap (비빔밥) - Mixed Rice

Bibimbap is a mixed rice dish where a variety of vegetables, meat, and a fried or raw egg are placed on top of a bowl of rice. The dish is then mixed together with gochujang (Korean chili paste) before eating. The egg adds a rich flavor and creamy texture that complements the other ingredients.

Street Food - Gyeran Ppang (계란빵) - Egg Bread

Gyeran Ppang is a popular Korean street food, especially in winter. It’s a small, cake-like bread filled with a whole egg, and sometimes cheese, ham, or other toppings. The bread is slightly sweet, contrasting nicely with the savory egg inside.

Ramyeon with Egg (라면과 계란)

Adding an egg to instant ramyeon (ramen) is a popular way to enrich the broth and add protein. The egg can be cracked directly into the boiling noodles to create a poached effect, or beaten and stirred in to create an egg drop soup texture.
