After spending 2 years in Korea, I can tell you that Yeosu is an absolute coastal treasure that deserves a spot on every traveler’s itinerary.

If you’re looking for a coastal escape in South Korea, Yeosu should be on your list. This seaside city blends breathtaking ocean views, fun activities, and delicious seafood. Here’s a quick guide for travelers planning a trip.

Yeosu gained international recognition after hosting the 2012 World Expo, transforming it into a modern tourist destination while preserving its natural coastal beauty. The city is famous for its spectacular archipelago of 317 islands, dramatic coastal cliffs, and some of Korea’s most beautiful sunsets.

Yeosu is also renowned for its fresh seafood, particularly blue crabs and raw fish (hoe), and serves as a gateway to exploring Korea’s stunning southern coastline. The city’s name literally means “beautiful water,” and once you see those crystal-clear waters dotted with islands, you’ll understand why!
